Queer Running Club was established in January 2019 and is a registered CIC. QRC is political by its very nature. When queer and trans people support one another it’s a political act of radical care against systemic oppressions that have historically held our community back, trivialised our experience and marginalised our existence.
QRC provides social value by creating a safe, sober space for the queer and trans community to run together. We do this via consistently programming weekly runs, organising social events our community can attend, uniting the club to attend running races and producing our own yearly running event called TRANSCEND.

1- We keep our runs accessible for all members of our community to attend with a small ticket fee per session rather than large monthly or yearly membership fees, because we know what it’s like, sometimes you get injured and can’t run every week. Meaning our members have autonomy over their commitment to the club.
2- We always employ queer and trans people behind the scenes. Our administration staff who work hard to continue to expand the club beyond the reach of Hackney. We currently have 8 x members of staff who work on fundraising, operations, design, marketing, programming and events. We have 6 x coaches and running leaders who teach our sessions. The club employs its’ members, everyone who works for QRC has run with the club for over 2 years.
3- TRANSCEND is the first ever queer and trans only running and walking event in Hackney Marshes, organised by QRC and is the club’s legacy event. In order to make the day as brilliant as it was last year, we require funding to pay our queer peers for their services. From drag performers, trans DJs, the glorious stage and sound system, photographers, security to keep us all safe, medals to make us all look stunning at the end, and general smooth running of the day.
4- QRC would like to expand even more, as we evolve we understand that our reach has so far been limited to Hackney. With our expansion to Peckham in 2024 we have developed a model we believe can work in other parts of London. In order to widen our reach we require funding to train up more queer and trans runners to teach others the QRC ropes. Our goal is to establish queer running communities across London and the rest of the UK in the next few years!
