About Sophie Power

Profile picture

Hi I'm Sophie Power (@ultra_sophie).  I'm an ultrarunner, mum of 3 and passionate about breaking down barriers to women in sport.  As well as finding my own limits

I'm going to be running on a treadmill for 48 hours live at the National Running Show to raise funds for SheRACES - but also hopefully inspire more women to take on their own challenge.

SheRACES advocates for women in sport - conducting research and then working with events globally to make them better for women.  From pregnancy deferrals, to t-shirts that fit, period products and having the women's race properly highlighted.  Simple changes make a huge difference and we've made start lines better for women around the world.  We'd love to get more women on start lines so please support us!

Please donate if you can - and come and join me on the treadmill if you are at the show!

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

SheRACES

Breaking barriers for women and girls in sport.
We believe a woman's place is on the start line
.

SheRACES is changing how sport is designed and delivered for women and girls. Our work now reaches 63 countries worldwide – from Uzbekistan to India, Canada to Zambia – turning women’s experiences into meaningful, lasting change.

We listen to and support female athletes, conduct original research into the barriers they face, and develop practical solutions that event organisers can implement. We also work directly with races, governing bodies and industry leaders to embed equity into policies and practices– driving permanent structural change rather than one-off gestures.

Our work has already influenced events reaching millions of women worldwide. From equal prize money and pregnancy deferrals to period products, improved facilities and more inclusive media coverage, we are helping to make sport fairer at every level.

Our campaign successes include securing pregnancy-deferral policies at the London and Chicago Marathons, while our guidelines have been adopted by UTMB events globally.

But there is still so much more to do. Your donation will help us:

  • Support and amplify female athletes
  • Expand our research and develop practical solutions
  • Influence governing bodies and decision-makers
  • Equip more events to remove barriers
  • Grow our campaigns and outreach across the world

Please support SheRACES and help us create a future where every woman and girl has an equal opportunity to stand on the start line – and thrive beyond it
