About Jersey International Air Display
Background
The Jersey International Air Display is recognised as one of the best air displays in Europe - winning the Paul Bowen Trophy at the European Air Show Convention in Brussels in 2013 - and it has become one of the Island's premier tourism events and a key highlight of the Island's calendar. It is watched in person and online by over 50,000 people (2023).
As the largest free event in the Island, the Air Display is funded by private sponsorship and a small government grant. This means that all families irrespective of their income can enjoy the flying display over St Aubin's Bay and activities on the Lower Park together. Although the event has been diminished in recent years due to the restrictions that followed the COVID outbreak and required in the post pandemic recovery phase and a shortfall of funding in this period it is our intention to ultimately return to its 2013 standard with enhanced static displays, and potentially STEM areas that complement the display itself.
Funding
However, we need your help. We very much welcome the support of the Government of Jersey and of Ports of Jersey, however the 2024 grant was initially restricted to £40,000 with a subsequent welcome undertaking to underwrite certain extra costs. In 2023 we received £60,000, and in previous years various amounts up to £100,000. Sadly costs have not gone down and in fact have increased substantially.
In 2024 we were overwhelmed by the support of the public and we are working to move the funding of the Display onto a more sustainable and consistent basis. We will be seeking additional sponsorship for 2025, but want to make sure the event can have the best future possible. If you enjoy the Display and would like to see it continue, we would very much welcome your support.
Rider
In the event that the Display does not take place all funds raised will be put towards the 2026 Display. In the event the Display is permanently cancelled, donations will be split evenly between Jersey's Helping Wings Charity and British Military Service Charities
