About Paul & Simon

Profile picture

Sponsor Paul and Simon in their El Camino trek in April/May 2023.

Paul and Simon have chosen to raise funds for Jersey Hospice Care and ICPCN and will be walking 800 KM of the famous El Camino trail in Northern Spain.

In 2020 Paul Turrell & Simon Fanning, two longstanding hospice and charity supporters, walked from John O’Groats to Land’s End and,in 2021 walked the return journey, both times raising much needed money for Hospices. On April 26th Paul & Simon will be setting out on the first leg of a challenging 500 mile / 800 kilometre walk from Saint Jean Pied de Port in SW France to Santiago De Compostela in NW Spain, walking the famous El Camino trail. Mike Palfreman, CEO of Jersey Hospice Care and Chair of ICPCN, will be joining them for some of the walk, as will Julie,Helena, Tessa, Barath and Dal plus other friends and colleagues.

You can follow their progress daily on https://simonfanning.blog

All will be walking to raise much needed funds for Mike's two current charities, with monies to be split 50/50 between Jersey Hospice Care and ICPCN.

Jersey Hospice care is the Island's only Hospice providing services to people of all ages with life-limiting conditions.

ICPCN is the only international charity dedicated to improving and extending support for the 21m children and young people worldwide with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as their families.

Both charities are hugely reliant on voluntary income to do the amazing work they do – every pound from sponsorship will be enormously important. Thank you

Please support Paul, Simon, Mike and their fellow walkers in this immense challenge, and through them 2 amazing charities, by sponsoring them for as much as you can afford. A very big thank you from all of us and all of those supported by the charities concerned.

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

Jersey Hospice Care & ICPCN

Jersey Hospice Care is the island's only hospice offering support to all those approaching end of life, regardless of age and diagnosis, as well their families. Services include a 12 bed In Patient Unit, community services through our specialist palliative care team, bereavement and counselling, and education to ensure that all professionals on island can access up to date and comprehensive training in palliative care best practice. Jersey Hospice Care typically supports 1,000 islanders every year through its work - over 85% of which is funded by voluntary income from fundraising and retail.

ICPCN (a UK registered charity also known as International Children's Palliative Care Network) is the only international charity dedicated to improving and extending support to the 21m children and young people worldwide with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as to their families. The charity achieves these aims by raising awareness of best practice in children's palliative care amongst the public, health professionals and policy makers; by advocating to governments and international organisations; by sharing expertise, skills and knowledge with our global network of members, and by providing hands-on support to local projects to enable them to develop and grow.
