About Ben Curson
On 20th March 2026, I will begin an extraordinary endurance challenge: running the South West Coast Path from Mount Edgecumbe in Plymouth, all the way around Cornwall via Lands End, and on to Barnstaple in North Devon. I will be running every day, covering 30 miles per day, along one of the UK's most rugged and demanding trails. The route includes steep climbs, exposed coastal paths, unpredictable weather and thousands of metres of ascent and descent - all on foot, all self-powered.
This Journey will take 12 days and span hundreds of miles of coastline.
I am a serving Royal Marine based in Plymouth. We have recently lost our friend and colleague LCpl Tom Burtwell to suicide. It has been difficult to come to terms with, as suicide by its nature is hard to understand or make sense of. I personally find meaning in going for a run and its really helped to clear my head when coming to terms with this tragedy. I'm hoping by running such a gruelling endurance event, to raise awareness around serving personnel and veterans mental health whilst raising money for a great cause who do their best to help our service men and women who are in crisis.

Just starting to up my mileage. 18 miles cracked this week! Crazy to the think that during the event I will have to do at least 18 miles everyday minimum! Feeling good about it tho!

Rock2Recovery
Rock 2 Recovery, was formed in 2015 by Jamie Sanderson and Jason Fox, after they both experienced their own battles with stress after transitioning from the Royal Marines.
Our mission is to save and change the lives of those in our Armed Forces, our Veteran Community, the Emergency Services and their families who are affected by stress. Our purpose is to inspire and coach towards a more positive future.
Sessions are free to our clients and so fundraising has a vital part to play for us.
Following our unique experiences, we recognise the need for rapid preventative interventions, specific coaching and assistance.
Our non-clinical approach is aimed at inspiring, coaching, motivating and supporting individuals to experience real and positive change in their lives by "rethinking your thinking". We encourage everyone to engage in their own recovery and find their "rock".
Join our wonderful community of inspirational people from all walks of life, who encourage each other to achieve personal goals, including Service people and Veterans who’ve been affected by stress themselves. We could not provide the support to those who need us without our supporters and fundraisers, some who have used the service and want to give back and others who have been inspired by stories they have heard about the work that we do.
