Hey, I running the London Marathon 2024

"Why would I put myself through 4 months of training in all weathers, 2 pairs of running shoes, and all the frustration that comes with it?"

I'll be on the start line with running family the Emancipated Run Crew (ERC), and there will be 42 of us running 42 kilometres (26.2) miles to raise money and awareness for the following causes

1: The Sickle Cell Society - supporting and representing those with sickle cell disorder to improve their overall quality of life.

2: The Emancipated Run Crew 1834 Campaign - Community engagement to encourage people of colour, particularly black and brown people to take up running, cycling, swimming and promote diversity and inclusion in organised events.

3: The NHS Give Blood Spread Love Campaign - to encourage people of colour to donate blood,  so that those who blood transfusions or donations can receive the life saving treatment they vitally need.

I would be delighted if you could help by donating a few pounds in our fundraising kitty. It would be a massive help to these courses, and a huge encouragement for me as I plod (slowly) towards the finish line at the mall.

Thanks, Jason

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good causes:

Emancipated Run Crew

Emanicpated Run Crew (ERC) was set up in 2019 by sisters Denise and Julia Stephenson (@we_run_we_eat) and friend Trojan Gordon (@thebeardedrunner) who were determined to challenge the lack of diversity in grassroots running by creating a virtual space where black and brown runners can support and encourage each other whatever our running goal.  We will help you to run your own race and in doing so encourage you to Run Free!

The Sickle Cell Society

The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by a sickle cell disorder to improve their overall quality of life.
First set up as a registered charity in 1979, the Sickle Cell Society has been working alongside health care professionals, parents, and people living with sickle cell to raise awareness of the disorder. The Society’s aim is to support those living with sickle cell, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
The Sickle Cell Society believes that individuals with sickle cell have the right to quality care. This can only be achieved if funding is made available to educate health carers and other professionals about the condition. The Society aims to provide this.
The Society does not discriminate between the types of sickle cell disorders or the ethnic groups concerned. Both sexes are equally affected, and should have equal access to support and services within a confidential and sensitive environment. We respect the views of every patient.
We have a network of committed volunteers, who play an important part in running the charity, providing administrative backup, and helping with fund-raising activities.
Donations from the public and fundraising activities are also part of our life support. Without them, we would be unable to finance the essential research and educational projects and we would be unable to offer children a much-needed holiday. The Society benefits from the support of a wide range of individuals and organisations nationally, who together play a vital role in its success.
