About Isaac Tarrant
Since 2013, when I first entered Victoria College Prep (VCP) in Year 3, I have been lucky enough to have received a Victoria College bursary. To put it simply: without this support, I would never have been at this school and my life would look completely different.
Now in my current and final year at Victoria College, I am running a fundraiser for the Victoria College Foundation to drive awareness of the financial assistance it can provide and pass my experience forward. Unfortunately, due to the cost-of-living crisis, the school’s demand for bursaries is higher than ever before. That is why throughout March I will be striving to raise as much money as possible so the Foundation can continue to assist young aspiring students.
Embracing the College’s spirit of personal growth, I will face my greatest challenge so far, free-falling 10,000 feet in a tandem skydive on Saturday 30th March at the Gunsite slipway, St Aubin’s Bay. Please join me and donate - proving that someone's financial background does not have to be a barrier to ‘flying high’.
All proceeds go directly to the Victoria College Foundation.

I am a Year 13 student studying English Literature, Economics and Mathematics at A Level, hoping to either go to university in America, study Maths and Philosophy at Durham or make music after College.
Something I will never forget is entering VCP as the only student from Les Landes School - it was quite daunting for 6-year-old me but I soon loved it there. Now 11 years later, at Victoria College, I feel immensely grateful for my experience in education. Whether it’s tackling Violence Against Women and Girls with the Government of Jersey’s Taskforce (alongside my peers from both Victoria College and Jersey College for Girls), having a platform to share the benefits of pursuing a Growth Mindset to Year 11 students approaching their GCSEs, delivering lessons on mental health and wellbeing to the school’s Year 7 cohort, or raising money for Storm Ciaran’s Bailiff Fund with Beaulieu Convent School, I feel very fortunate to have been given opportunities that allow me to make a positive difference.
All the way through school, there has been a lot of space for me to think about and pursue my own goals and growth as an individual. The staff have been my biggest supporters and mentors on this journey - incredibly generous with their time and advice. I have been encouraged to develop my oracy through the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts Public Speaking qualification, define my future via dedicated careers lessons and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language qualification and connect with like-minded student leaders. The latter has included on-island connections through Victoria College’s Tomorrow’s Leaders event as a Prefect as well as international networking through online courses for Investment Banking and Law. I have even been able to engage with the wider community at Jersey’s Future Economy event and Tom Crawford’s applied mathematics workshop in the #TeamSeas global campaign to inform ocean plastic clean-up.
Ultimately, I want aspiring young students - just like ‘little me’ at Les Landes - to know that they deserve access to all these same enriching experiences, no matter their financial situation.
