About Faye & Rachel
Hi, we’re Faye and Rachel, sisters, and we sadly lost our big brother to suicide back in 2005 after being medically discharged from the Royal Marines.
Leon was the best big brother growing up; fun, protective of his family, loving and the joker of the family. He joined the Marines shortly after leaving school and absolutely loved it, doing many tours and worked his way up to Lance Corporal.
After Leon injured his back, he was unfortunately discharged and found adjusting to civvy street very hard with little support during that transition.
On July 1st 2005, Leon took his life in our family home; a horrific day for our whole family and one which is impossible to put into words. He was just 30 years young, and we had no idea Leon had been suffering that severely with his mental health.
The only way I can try to explain the pain of losing a loved one to suicide is that it feels like someone has ripped your heart out!
Back in 2005, mental health wasn’t openly talked about, let alone by a Royal Marine. Had the support been there, we could potentially still have Leon with us today who’d be celebrating his 50th birthday this year.
We’re doing this 50km continuous walk along the beautiful Cotswold Way together in memory of Leon. We’re fully funding our entry as we really would like to support Rock2Recovery (non profit charity), a charity close to our hearts that helps the men and women of our active military, veterans and blue light services combat stress and inspire them towards a more positive future.

Rock2Recovery
Rock 2 Recovery, was formed in 2015 by Jamie Sanderson and Jason Fox, after they both experienced their own battles with stress after transitioning from the Royal Marines.
Our mission is to save and change the lives of those in our Armed Forces, our Veteran Community, the Emergency Services and their families who are affected by stress. Our purpose is to inspire and coach towards a more positive future.
Sessions are free to our clients and so fundraising has a vital part to play for us.
Following our unique experiences, we recognise the need for rapid preventative interventions, specific coaching and assistance.
Our non-clinical approach is aimed at inspiring, coaching, motivating and supporting individuals to experience real and positive change in their lives by "rethinking your thinking". We encourage everyone to engage in their own recovery and find their "rock".
Join our wonderful community of inspirational people from all walks of life, who encourage each other to achieve personal goals, including Service people and Veterans who’ve been affected by stress themselves. We could not provide the support to those who need us without our supporters and fundraisers, some who have used the service and want to give back and others who have been inspired by stories they have heard about the work that we do.
