About Julia and Michael
Whilst on their honeymoon in June 2021, Julia and Michael hired a tandem, and enjoyed it so much that they can now be seen regularly out and about on a 'bicycle made for two'. On reading about the London to Brighton Bike Ride they were surprised to find an entry category for tandems, and so in a moment of madness they applied for a place and got one! They will therefore be cycling the 54 miles from London to Brighton on Sunday 18th June 2023 in what is the oldest charity cycle event in Europe in support of the International Children's Palliative Care Network (ICPCN).
Julia is the Chief Executive of ICPCN, which is the only global network working to improve access to palliative care for the more than 21 million children worldwide who need it, yet the majority cant access such care and are suffering needlessly. Whilst committed to children's palliative care, Julia is not a seasoned cyclist and this will be the furthest that she has even ridden and she is dreading the legendary Ditchling beacon at mile 46!. Meanwhile Michael is a regular cyclist although he has never ridden this far on a tandem, so it will be a new experience for both of us. Please do support us as we cycle from London to Brighton and raise funds for ICPCN - Thank you.
