Entries for the Bidwells Oxford 10k have now SOLD OUT. If you'd like to be the first to hear about our 2025 event, please register your interest on our website www.townandgown10k.com/oxford
Taking place on Sunday 12 May 2024, Oxford Town and Gown is the oldest run in the series. It started in 1982 by local runners as a fun run to raise funds for muscular dystrophy and still to this day all profits from the race go to Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK).
Our unique route is the only closed-road City Centre 10k in Oxford with a glorious stretch along the River Cherwell and finish in the University Parks. In 2019, the run was awarded Best 10k in South East England by the Running Awards.
My youngest son Bertie has a rare form of MD called Ullrich’s (UCMD). He is nearly 13 and we have had to watch him grow weaker and weaker over the last 10 years. Research into treatments for rare neuromuscular conditions desperately needs funding. I’m currently the vice-chair of the Lay Research Panel at Muscular Dystrophy UK, representing the community in the grant round each year. Anything you can donate does make a difference both in the funding of projects and in giving hope to kids like my son and others, including adults, with other types of MD and muscle weakness.
