About Jackie Adkins

Profile picture

I am running the Corsham 10k for the second time. Last year was the first time I had run that distance, so it was a big stretch for me. I finished it in just under an hour. This year I would like to do it in less time.

I am running in memory of my niece, Tasha, who sadly passed away in 2019 from cancer. She was 23. She spent time at Dorothy House hospice in her last months. I remember it as a place of love and life. Tasha particularly loved the big bubble bath and appreciated care taken over her vegan food choices. The staff were wonderful - there were a lot of smiles and laughter.

Tasha was a strong, loving, lively young woman. She was determined to be in life, right until the end. Her wedding to Oscar, earlier in the year was a truly joyous occasion for everyone. Tasha really was an inspiration - it was a privilege to know her. In the photo - she's in the middle with her siblings Becca and Charlie.

At Dorothy House, we provide exceptional personalised care to people in our community who are approaching death. That means we’ve got you: we’re here for our patients and their loved ones, as much or as little as they need us.

We believe every life is incredibly precious, and no-one should face death alone.

Our standard of care reaches deep into our community. Through ten locally-focused Dorothy House care teams, we help people prepare for the end of their lives and equip more people to provide the care each of us deserves.
