I’m not usually one for sharing but I thought if I was to share a little in hopes it will help raise some money for The Jersey Hospice it would be worth it. So I will be walking the 5k Moonlight walk 8th June in memory of my Dad Brian Le Lion.

In 2016 my Dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. In December of 2022 he was told that the cancer had spread to his liver, lungs and bones and that he had a life expectancy of 12 months with Chemotherapy, 6 months if treatment didn’t work.

By April 2023 he was in Hospice for some well needed rest and well-deserved care.

The Jersey Hospice Care provided not only outstanding care and attention to him to ensure he could enjoy his life and see family at any time of day but allowing him to be himself, the staff laughing and joking with him.

They also helped me, in allowing me to rest and to spend the time we had making memories together. Watching old family holiday videos, he filmed on a DVD player they set up for us, staying up until 12am watching Eurovision which we loved, pulling the bed out onto the balcony to get some sun with an alcohol free beer! But above all they allowed me to sleep at the hospice in the adjoining room next door for the for the final week, so we knew we were never without each other.

On 27th May 2023 I said goodbye to my Dad and best friend.

My Dad has always been a silent hero to so many people. He always went above and beyond for those he cared about, never expecting anything in return but simply feeling joy from seeing others happy.

I would like to give back as much as I can to thank the Charity and staff at the Hospice for all they have done for me and my dad.
