This is my first Marathon and first time fundraising! I am excited and nervous for both. The furthest race I've run is the Sark 10 miler, which was more of a half-marathon experience because, it was all off road (running on cliffs feels like double effort for each mile - if you know what I mean). I got into running few years ago and since then haven't stopped.
The reason for running a Marathon is trying to level-up mentally and spiritually. Seeing my friends raising money through sports gave me the courage to do the same (I am from India and the culture I come from, sports was something more of a hobby and academic was the centre of my experience so far. It's only since I moved countries and came to the Channel Islands, that I have started this journey with heart).
The reason I am raising money for CRY Jersey is because of the 5 key areas where they focus are key to my own values. Being from India, girl education, bias, education gap, is very much a challenge. And the other 2 key areas, mental health and supporting refugees is something we've all experienced as collective. Isolation and loss of human interaction or touch had a massive surge in depression and loss all over the world.
We can't solve the problem overnight, but we can take one step at a time. Helping one human at a time. Together for a better human future.
Even though we have wars, systemic racism, education gaps - at the end of the day, we would do absolutely anything to have each other. That's the true power of human connection.
I hope that by taking part in this marathon I raise my target sum of £500 for CRY Jersey with your help and support. Thank you.
