The Heart and Sole Jersey Heart Support Group Challenge is a 25 mile walk or run taking you from La Fregate on Jardin de la Mer along our South Coast to St Aubins, up the Historic Corbiere Walk to Corbiere, around the stunning headlands to La Pulente and then along the West Coast to L'Etacq and returning to La Fregate along the same route, as part of a relay or as a solo entrant. The event is being held on World Heart Day and we would like the participants to either wear the event t-shirt or wear red to celebrate this special day in the Cardiac Community.
All money raised from the event will stay on Island and as a legacy we aim to install an AED (Defibrillator) along the route. AED's can save lives and our charity supports the placement and purchasing of AED's around the Island and supports an exercise class post cardiac surgery.
The Heart and Sole Challenge was initiated by Tracey Jeanne who had open heart surgery at the age of 47, having already beaten breast cancer when just 32. Tracey wanted to do something positive to help our community by providing lifesaving defibrillators along the Challenge route, focussing on the Avenue and Five Mile Road. The Jersey Heart Support Group also supports Cardiac Rehab classes which have been fundamental in helping her to get her fitness back, something imperative to help not only Tracey, but so many others. Living with a heart condition can be debilitating and overwhelming and by doing something positive it can really help your mental health. This is why Tracey is encouraging as many people as possible to get out there,to walk or run this Challenge and to raise vital funds for such an important charity.
Thank you so much for supporting this event and helping to improve Cardiac Care in Jersey.
