About Alan Walsh

Profile picture

On the 29th of April 2024, my mother-in-law, Sharon passed away surrounded by her family at Jersey Hospice. The team at the Hospice couldn’t have done more for Sharon, my wife, her sisters and Sharon’s husband, Jeff. They even made up spare rooms on multiple nights so that they could all stay nearby.

The staff mentioned that funding is a major reason many people can’t get a room in the Hospice when they need it and if I can I’d like to raise as much as possible so that it hopefully gives some others the level of care that Sharon was lucky enough to have in her final weeks.

Sharon fought cancer valiantly for years so a 21.1km run should be comparatively easy and I’ll try not to complain too much or her daughters will remind me….

Please help the Hospice out and give someone else the chance of their brilliant care.

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

Jersey Hospice Care

Jersey Hospice Care is the island’s only hospice – providing specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting conditions. Services include the Specialist Palliative Care Team – who support people at home, in hospital, and in care homes, an In Patient Unit providing a home away from home, educational programmes, complementary therapy, emotional, spiritual and faith support, and community bereavement services. Jersey Hospice Care is an independent charity, providing all its services without a charge to patients. It costs £18,000 a day to run – funded mainly by the generosity of islanders. This comes in the form of donations, fundraising, and sales in our charity shops, as well as through the outstanding work of the dedicated volunteers who give their time and skills to keep Hospice running.
