About Nemone Harvey

Profile picture

This is an event sponsored by CSC this year, and as an employee of CSC I was made aware of the event through my work.
My daughter Corinne and I decided to challenge ourselves and take part. We both love swimming but normally in warmer weather like mid July onwards, and as someone who hates being cold this really was a challenge for me! But I love the sea and I have seen how important the work done by Jersey Hospice is, they support people and their families at the most difficult of times, so whilst there’s so much excess at Christmas (which I do love) I also wanted to try and give back as well.

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good causes:

Jersey Hospice Care (Deprecated)

Jersey Hospice Care offers specialist palliative care to patients with any life limiting illness. Our aim is that patients are enabled to live the remainder of their lives to the full, to remain at home if they wish and to die with dignity where they choose. Our care is about so much more than the specialist palliative treatment of a person's physical symptoms. It's a total philosophy of care, offering spiritual and emotional support that extends to family members and carers. For each person we are privileged to care for, we only get one chance at the end of life to get it right and that's why we strive every day to go that extra mile for our patients and their families, to make extraordinary care our 'ordinary'. Helping each person we care for to get the best out of every day and to make each day count.

It costs £5,977,600 million each year to maintain our services, yet all of our services to patients and families remain free of charge. We rely on the support of fundraising by the community, local companies, and trusts and the income from our retail shops to enable us to continue caring for patients coming to terms with a life-limiting condition and to support their families and loved ones.

National Trust for Jersey

Celebrating its 90th Anniversary in 2026, the National Trust for Jersey, an independent, self-funding charity, is a proud and steadfast guardian of Jersey's wild and unique spaces.

With its dramatic coastline, rich marine environment, distinctive vernacular architecture, and hedge lined country lanes, Jersey retains a strong sense of place, identity and above all, beauty. But these qualities are always at risk, now more than ever.

Threats from unsuitable development, creeping urbanisation, unsustainable farming practices and short term economic policies have resulted in a serious decline in wildlife and the poorer health of our environment. Tranquillity is becoming increasingly precious.

The National Trust seeks to champion and protect the distinctive elements that make Jersey 'Jersey', so that they remain at the very heart of Island life. We do this through an incredible programme of cultural events, practising sustainable management led by expert conservationists and by promoting and increasing awareness of the value of our marine spaces, countryside and historic environment to all Islanders.

From coastline and cliff paths, woodlands and wetlands, meadows and marshes, as well as managing nearly 40 historical properties, the National Trust will never give up on our irreplaceable nature and rich heritage.

By supporting our work, you ensure that Jersey is preserved and protected not just for today, but for generations to come.

About 12 Bays of Christmas 2024

Our fun and festive swimming challenge

Following the successful 30 Bays in 30 Days event this summer, we're encouraging islanders to embrace the winter weather and visit 12 different bays throughout December.

Between 1 and 31 December, participants must take a bracing dip in each of the festively named bays:

  • Bonne silent Nuit
  • Bauble-y- Bay
  • St Cathereindeers bay
  • Yule lo(n)g Beach
  • La Rocque-ing around the Christmas Tree
  • Ever-Green Island
  • St Ho-Ho-Ho-bins Bay
  • Port-let it Snow
  • Jingle all the Ouaisne
  • St Brr-lade’s Bay
  • Le Sleigh
  • L’Elf-tacq

Registration fees:
£12 for adults
£5 for children

Safety of swimmers is paramount so only those who are medically fit should consider taking part. Participants will also receive tips and information about how to stay safe during and after a cold water swim and wearing a wetsuit will be optional. The emphasis is also for people to take part within their own limitations so there is no target time, distance, or number of strokes to swim.

This event is kindly sponsored by CSC.
