Some of you may remember my dad, John Merritt, as a smiley energetic character who always had a kind word for everyone. While this is partly still true, my dad's diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease has had a massive impact on his life and his family and this has resulted in him living in a care home away from my mum. He also has dementia associated with this disease and he has no idea about time or place and he is sometimes distant. He is gradually losing the ability to walk and attend to his own personal care. I hope that by raising money other families can have a better outlook if someone close to them is diagnosed with MND. London City Swim is a charity swim, taking place in Royal Victoria Dock in London on the 21st September 2018, to raise awareness and vital funds for motor neurone disease (MND) research. Come and swim in the beautiful waters of this national centre of excellence.
