About Kirstie mayes

Profile picture

This year, I’ve decided to take on not one, but two half marathons — the Yeovil Half in March and the Rome Half in October. For those who know me, you’ll know how busy and chaotic my life can be at the best of times, so squeezing in training runs between work, Frenchy and everything else is going to be quite the challenge! Having never run a half-marathon before, it’s safe to say this is well outside my comfort zone — but that’s exactly what makes it worth doing.

I’ll be running in memory of my wonderful friend Jade, who we sadly lost in 2023. Jade was one of the kindest, funniest people I knew, and she was also incredibly brave in being open about her mental health struggles. Her honesty and strength continue to inspire me, and I wanted to do something that not only honours her memory but also helps others who may be fighting their own battles.

By running these races, I’ll be raising money for Mind, a charity that provides crucial support and raises awareness for mental health. Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a difference — and will give me that extra motivation to keep going when the miles get tough. Thank you so much for your support; it really does mean the world.

About Yeovil Half Marathon 2026

Sunday 29th March 2026 - 09:00

Yeovil Half Marathon will start and finish in Yeovil Town Centre.

The route starts in the town centre on fully closed roads before heading down to the pretty Ninesprings County Park where you will run its entire length before heading west to the picturesque village of Montacute.
However, no time to admire the view before you turn right onto some quiet country roads heading for the famous Ball's Hill.
When you get to the top and back into Yeovil it is pretty well all downhill from here. Just a few more miles to go before you get back to the town centre for the big finish.
An amazing atmosphere awaits you with spectators from far and wide lining the streets and cheering you on over the line where you will be guaranteed that big, big, big finish line feeling!
You will then be presented with your well earned bespoke, awesome, better than ever metal finishers medal!

The RaceNation Events volunteer pacers will be present to help you get around the course in a certain time, they will be easily recognisable wearing pacer flags and or pacer t-shirts.  Feel free to have a chat with them before the race if you are hoping to stick with them, they’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
