Well I came to be a MAMIL very late in the ageing process and straddled a bike in September 2016 to take on the challenge of the Cycle to MIPIM 2017. After not being daunted by that experience and at my age painful memories soon fade I ended up taking on the challenge in 2018 of both the L&G Northern Power Leg (Leeds to London) and the Cycle To MIPIM. Again with memories of the cold, rain and long days of being soaking wet in the saddle I have been convinced to take up the supposedly warmer option of the new L&G 'Italian Job' Cycle to MIPIM. This is a small group of riders riding from Bari, Italy to Cannes over the 6 days before the MIPIM Conference. After my previous cycle to MIPIM efforts this was sold to me as a more enjoyable ride. However they forgot to mention we would be riding / climbing nearly twice the height of Everest over the six days with 800 miles of cycling thrown in for good measure!!!! And for those that know me I am not built to ride up hills, let alone mountains so will once again be taking on this challenge and enduring the pain and suffering to raise funds for Coram, the UK's oldest children's charity. Coram is the little known though oldest children's charity in the UK, working with the UK's most vulnerable children and looking to place them in permanent adoptive families.
