In January 2026, the Government of Jersey announced funding cuts that put vital charity services at risk. Charities across the island are all struggling to keep afloat, leaving those who need it most to struggle on their own.
We welcome the Government of Jersey's recent decision to reverse cuts for JET, another fantastic local charity. However, the reverse of these cuts have only been announced for this one charity, and it was only after a very public outcry. It is wrong that the Government of Jersey only react in response to public fallout rather than doing the right thing, and the swift decision to reverse this shows that the funds are available.
Headway is Jersey's only rehab and day centre for those who have suffered with stroke or brain injury. It is vital that they remain open, so that they can continue the brilliant work in supporting our most vulnerable with their long road ahead. Let’s work together to make sure this charity doesn’t become the next headline, and that we remember those who are starting to become forgotten.
