About Conor Hearne

In January 2026, the Government of Jersey announced funding cuts that put vital charity services at risk. Charities across the island are all struggling to keep afloat, leaving those who need it most to struggle on their own.

We welcome the Government of Jersey's recent decision to reverse cuts for JET, another fantastic local charity. However, the reverse of these cuts have only been announced for this one charity, and it was only after a very public outcry. It is wrong that the Government of Jersey only react in response to public fallout rather than doing the right thing, and the swift decision to reverse this shows that the funds are available.

Headway is Jersey's only rehab and day centre for those who have suffered with stroke or brain injury. It is vital that they remain open, so that they can continue the brilliant work in supporting our most vulnerable with their long road ahead. Let’s work together to make sure this charity doesn’t become the next headline, and that we remember those who are starting to become forgotten.

This January, take on a challenge that boosts your wellbeing and changes lives.

Join Headway Jersey’s Walk for Brain Injury and complete 30 miles or 50 miles between 13 January and 13 February 2026. Walk alone, walk with a friend, or take it on as a team — just register each person taking part in this personal New Year challenge.

You can walk anywhere, anytime:
• walk to work and walk home
• walk at weekends
• walk outdoors or on a treadmill
• walk at your own pace — as long as you hit 30 or 50 miles within the month

We encourage everyone to use a step counter, distance app, or smartwatch to track progress. Send us your updates so we can celebrate you on social media, cheer you on, and share your journey with our community.

Want company? Join a Headway Team Member for a weekend walk, or meet us for a weekly group walk where we walk together for an hour — all in support of islanders recovering from brain injury.

Registration is £15 with a £100 fundraising target, and every pound supports Headway Jersey’s rehabilitation programmes, helping islanders rebuild their lives after life-changing brain injuries.
