I’m taking part in Le Cure de France 2026 for my dear friend Marianne (Manny). Le Cure was founded because of her: after she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, her husband and three friends decided to create something big enough to fund real change in cancer research. Their answer (in 2014) was to climb the height of Everest on a bike, in the Alps, over four days. And they’ve repeated that feat every year since.

Manny’s own journey has not been straightforward. She has faced breast cancer twice, and is here today thanks to the extraordinary research and care she received at the Royal Marsden. You can read her own account of it here.

Around 32 women a day in the UK die of breast cancer. Manny’s story shows what’s possible when research gets there in time, and that’s what Le Cure exists to fund. Since 2014, Curistas have raised over £3.3 million for the Royal Marsden and funded seven research fellowships, work that has directly changed how breast cancer is treated and improved outcomes for women everywhere.

This will be my third year taking on Le Cure, and my legs are very much hoping it will be my last(!). This August I’ll be joining around 70 other Curistas for some of the Tour de France’s hardest climbs, roughly 2,500 vertical metres a day, for four days straight. It will be slow, it will be painful, and I promise I will earn every penny of your donation in blood, sweat and tears, quite literally.

The event is entirely self-funded and volunteer-run, so every pound donated goes straight to research.

I’m doing this for Manny, and for the many women facing this diagnosis every day. Any donation, whatever the size, would mean a great deal.

About Le Cure 2026

Dear Curistas

As you probably know, if you've got this far, Le Cure de France is a charity cycling event established in 2014 to raise money for breast cancer research at the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.  So far we have raised over £3.8 million to fund our 8 Le Cure Research Fellowships (and counting), but have much more work to do to help cure cancer.

The route for 2026 includes the formidable Cime de la Bonette (the highest paved road in the Alps), the Col de l'Iseran (the highest mountain pass) and the might Col d'Izoard - fondly remembered from our first ever Le Cure.

Sign up and get cycling!  We can't wait for you to join us in the Alps to raise money to fund new, cutting-edge cancer research at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
