About Heather Sutherland

Why am I doing this? For 2 reasons…..

Firstly, as many of you know, in August 2017 we adopted our handsome boy Bruce from the JSPCA so this is a fantastic opportunity for me to (hopefully) raise some money for this fab charity.

Secondly, about 6 months ago I started walking more in an effort to lose weight and get a bit fitter. Well! I did get fitter, walked further and faster and by January I thought I’d give running a go. So I did…..and I decided that it would be good to have something to aim for so here I am doing my first proper run. It may only be a small one but it’s quite a big deal for me.

If you would like to sponsor me I would be over the moon but if not, that’s ok too xx

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

the JSPCA Animals' Shelter

For over 150 years, the JSPCA has been rescuing, protecting and caring for Jersey’s animals. Every day our team responds to calls for help of injured wildlife, lost pets, abandoned animals and those in need of urgent veterinary care.

Your support makes this possible. Because of you, animals receive the care, respect and attention they deserve. Your generosity ensures we can continue our mission to prevent cruelty, promote knowledge and provide for aged, sick, lost and unwanted animals.

By giving today, you ensure that no animal is left to suffer and every animal in need gets the care and compassion they deserves.
Together, we can build a kinder, safer future for Jersey’s animal.

The impact you have by taking part

For over 150 years, the JSPCA has been caring for the Island’s animals - rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming domestic animals and rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing wildlife.

We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of the community, local businesses, and supporters like you to keep our services running 24/7, 365 days a year. Each year we need to raise over £2 million to continue our vital work.

We are independent from the RSPCA in the UK and every penny raised stays on the Island to help local animals.

Our mission is to prevent cruelty, promote knowledge, and provide care for aged, sick, lost and unwanted animals in Jersey.

With your support, in 2025 we:

  • Cared for over 1,200 wildlife animals, including more than 190 hand-raised baby wildlife.
  • Successfully rehomed over 120 domestic animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and even some exotic pets.

Your support makes this possible - by taking part in events like the Bark Run, you’re making a meaningful difference to animals in need.

Dogs are welcome at the finish line to cheer on runners, but for safety reasons they are not permitted on the course due to the size of the crowd. Owners remain responsible for their dogs at all times and should only bring dogs that are comfortable in busy environments and around other dogs and people.
