About Thomas McLauchlan

Profile picture

This year, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, she is doing well, but her diagnosis brought home just how many lives are affected by this disease. A dear relative of mine has also faced breast cancer, making this challenge particularly personal.

My wife Hannah and I are taking on Le Cure: four demanding days cycling some of the toughest and most famous Tour de France climbs in the Alps. We have done rather less training than we might have liked, but we are hoping the engine is strong enough — and that my 11–23 cassette does not prove too ambitious!

Every donation, however large or small, will help support vital breast cancer research. Thank you enormously for supporting us.

About Le Cure 2026

Dear Curistas

As you probably know, if you've got this far, Le Cure de France is a charity cycling event established in 2014 to raise money for breast cancer research at the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.  So far we have raised over £3.8 million to fund our 8 Le Cure Research Fellowships (and counting), but have much more work to do to help cure cancer.

The route for 2026 includes the formidable Cime de la Bonette (the highest paved road in the Alps), the Col de l'Iseran (the highest mountain pass) and the might Col d'Izoard - fondly remembered from our first ever Le Cure.

Sign up and get cycling!  We can't wait for you to join us in the Alps to raise money to fund new, cutting-edge cancer research at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
