On Saturday 20th June, Mark and I walked 48 miles around the entire coast of Jersey in just under 21 consecutive hours. We hadn’t planned on asking for sponsorship, because, quite frankly, we had only planned to keep walking for as long as were having a nice time. However, as we racked up the miles and everything became a lot more painful, we also became more stubborn and determined to finish.

Having set off in footwear only really fit for the bin, Mark was crippled by blisters within the first 3 miles, which set the tone (and the pace) for the rest of the walk. My mental fortitude abandoned me with 10 miles to go and left me (literally) crying for my Mum and when my Mum did actually arrive at the finish line with a homemade sign and a box of (vegan) cheese and pickle sandwiches, I bawled my eyes out once again and decided that maybe I did actually deserve some sponsorship after all

Each year the Island Walk Trust choose local (Jersey) charities to benefit from the funds raised through the Island Walk, whether that be from the entry fees or the sponsorship received.

Every penny raised by walkers actually goes to local charities, rather than cover expenses or salaries of the event’s organisers.

Unless you live in Jersey, the charities the Island Walk Trust supports probably won’t mean much to you. But this year, they include Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey, who have been and continue to support my Dad through his cancer treatment, so it feels even more apt that I should at least try and raise some money to give something back to them.

Thanks for reading. Anything you can spare would be much appreciated

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

Around the Island Walk Trust

Each year the trustees choose local charities to benefit from the funds raised through the Island Walk, whether that be from the entry fees or the sponsorship received.

The Trustee try to split the causes that they help, whether that be elderly/health, children/sport, environment or animals. Since inception over £2.9m has been raised with all the money going to local Jersey charities.  All the money raised is redistributed to the designated charities with the costs being funded by the sponsors, currently TMF Group.  All the Trustees, Organisation committee and supporters on the day give their time for free and there are no salaried individuals.

About Island Walk sponsored by TMF Group 2026

The Around the Island Walk Trust has four Walks that you can register for in 2026 taking place on Saturday 20th June 2026.

Main Walk - Covers 48.1 miles around the stunning coastline of Jersey. Starting at 3am from Elizabeth Terminal and goes in an anti-clockwise direction to catch the sunrise as you head east. There are 13 checkpoints along the route where you will be supported and scanned to keep you safe and on track.

Relay - If 48.1 miles is a little daunting, why not get together with colleagues or friends and take on the challenge of the walk as a relay team with up to 4 members.

Lieutenant Governors Challenge - if you would like to do the walk in sections the LG Challenge allows you to take on a different stage. Join his Excellency the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey to take on 13 miles from Les Fontaines Tavern to Le Braye.

ONE TMF Challenge - This walk from Bel Royal to the finish line is designed for those who may find our other routes too challenging. Spanning approximately 2 miles along a flat, accessible path, it’s perfect for families with young children, wheelchair users, and anyone with mobility challenges. Join us for this inclusive experience and the joy of crossing the finish line together!

Over the last 35 years, 100's of local charities have benefited from donations exceeding £3,000,000 - a few small steps can help make a BIG difference.

Please remember that in registering for the Walk you are agreeing to support those specific local charities which have successfully applied to the Organisers for funds, the Walk is not intended as a vehicle to raise funds for other Charities.
