About Alan Dempsey

Profile picture In my second year cycling, I have developed a new appreciation for Mark Twain's wisdom. Riding a bike for the first time in his 40's, he said the hardest thing about learning was the pavement. But he persevered saying “Learn to ride a bicycle. You will not regret it if you live.” One year on I'm still peddling. So this year I made another commitment to complete a charity ride of 520km from Le Puy to Cannes in France over 3 days. There's 8,373m of mountains to climb this time. The aim of my cycle is to raise at least £1000 for Coram, the UK’s first children’s charity. I have already paid for the full cost of participating in the ride, and all the money you donate will go directly to Coram. I find Coram so appealing because they support people at a time in their lives when it can make the most difference to their futures: when they have so much potential. Every day they offer direct, practical help and emotional support to vulnerable children and young people. Your donation will help support services for children including therapy, homeless outreach, foster care and adoption. So please support a great cause and give young children the opportunity to grow into confident successful adults who can one day choose to climb their own mountains
