Oxford Town and Gown 10-miler is the newest addition to our series and is an extension of the popular Oxford 10k route. The event holds a minimum fundraising target of £200 for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Just like the 10k, the route is unique and scenic, which makes it perfect for all runners. You’ll start with a 4 mile loop of the river and cycle paths, north of the University parks, before coming back and joining the 10k route through the city centre. Open to all abilities; if you want a step up in challenge or a chance to run some trails, this is the race for you.
Event Benefits:
- Welcome pack sent in the post with fundraising/training guide
- MDUK tech t-shirt
- Post-race reception with food and soft drinks and VIP toilet
- 10-miler medal
I foolishly agreed to run this 10 mile race (The last time I run anything near that distance I was 14...!) but it is for a very very good cause. I hope you can help me fundraise. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disease that causes muscle weakness and wasting. DMD almost always affect boys, and they tend to be diagnosed before the age of 5! Just recently in 2018 a promising new drug failed in clinical trials and new treatments are desperately needed. I cannot even start to imagine how families can manage when a little child is diagnosed with DMD. For that reason I am raising money for Muscular Dystrophy UK. They support families and fund research for DMD.
