About Simon Maylor

Profile picture

As Charlotte and I have two daughters with Myotonic Dystrophy, which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy, we regularly send Christmas cards and have updates from Muscular Dystrophy UK.  In 2019 when MDUK emailed me to tell me about the Town and Gown 10k runs that they organise, it seemed the ideal way to push myself to a better level of fitness, and also to help raise money for this excellent charity.  So since then I have done their 10k twice, once in Cambridge, and last year a virtual one, raising nearly £1000 thanks to the generosity of friends and family. Not easy for me, as my more regular distance is 5km, and I have to admit to not being the most athletic of people!!!!  This year, on the 16th October, I will be running the Town and Gown 10k back in Cambridge and hope to raise a little bit of money in doing so.  I'm not pushing hard for donations this year, as people have already been so generous in the past, but if you would like to contribute to this noble cause, we'd be very grateful.

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

Muscular Dystrophy UK

"Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for the 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. We bring together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions. Muscle-wasting conditions are very rare, affecting just over one in every 1,000 people. As a result, some health professionals may never come across anyone with a muscle-wasting condition and may not know much about them. But we do. Since 1959, we’ve been supporting families living with muscle-wasting conditions. We provide vital information, advice, resources and support for people with these conditions, their families and the professionals who work with them."
