About Daw Family

UPDATE:

Originally, Teresa and I were going to take part in this ride separately. However, because we know pretty much all the same people we decided that we would raise money as a family instead. So myself, T, Kirstin and Jackson will now be getting on our bikes, roller skates and skateboards and aiming to complete the (fever) 333 mile challenge to raise money for these fantastic charities. If it looks like we are going to hit that mark early we shall attempt the big tamale 666!

Anyone who knows us knows that the last few years have been tricky for us. I am still recovering from an accident from last January and T has suffered from depression (but doing great now!) and has lead a very sedentary lifestyle for the last 4/5 years so any level of activity is amazing... but SO worth it!

All these charities mean a lot to us in different ways and they are struggling (like many) in these truly difficult times so ANYTHING you can spare will be deeply appreciated and a massive help to children all over the world.

Mahoosive thanks from all of us and all the charities . x

After many years of being a big supporter and consistently sponsoring the Traunts and various riders. This year I’ve decided to bite the bullet and get in the saddle to give a finger to a variety of things that warrant the finger by doing the virtual ride from London to Donington, that’s 175 miles even though this years Download Festival is not happening. Cancer effects everyone of us either personally, via family or friends and deserves a massive finger. Kids needing support in life do not need the added pain of cancer to carry with them, so an even bigger finger to that. Neither should any kid feel the worry of being safe and having people to turn to. All of these charities are hugely important. Don’t think they aren’t your problem. As a society it’s all our job to look after each other and part of that involves ensuring we support the likes of #childline #nordoffrobbins #teenagecancertrust and #savechildren. These charities need our support more than ever!!!

About HMT 2020: The Eighth of Spades - Virtual Ride

Raise money for Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust, Childline, and Save the Children!

For the last eight years the Heavy Metal Truants have been doing an annual charity cycle ride from London to Download Festival set upon the hallowed heavy metal grounds of Castle Donington. Open to all, our charity ride has seen metal fans, bands, and industry types getting on their bikes and raising £681,500 in the process.

We were heartbroken to see Download Festival cancelling this year - a decision which we of course fully support. We weren’t happy to sit this year out though. Our chosen charities, all of which work hard to support children and young people, need our support now more than ever, so we’re calling on all metalheads from around the world to join us in the name of heavy metal.

As it’s the 40th anniversary of Motorhead’s Ace of Spades, what better with which to honour Lemmy than to call it…

HEAVY METAL TRUANTS 8: THE EIGHTH OF SPADES!

THE PLAN:

Between June 1st and in the run-up to June 12th, the weekend of Virtual Download Festival, we want you to get in the saddle and join us on a virtual ride. Anything with pedals which you can log on Strava is fine - actual bikes, smart trainers, or simple exercise bikes: if you can log the miles on Strava, you can join the ride. If you are going outside on a real bike though we ask that you do so safely and according to government guidelines!
