So I have done it!

679.7miles in 40hrs 17mins at an average speed of 16.9mph and an elevation gain of 29,406ft which is more than the Height of Everest.

Download Festival has been a passion of mine for many years missing only three years since 2006. When I first heard of The Truants it included another passion of mine, Cycling and better that looked into the Charities this event is fundraising for. Four different children's charities including Musical Therapy and I'm sure I can speak for the Metal community out there and say music has helped us through some dark times to bring light to what sometimes can be a cruel world.

With the current COVID-19 Pandemic I'm sure there are plenty of kids out there that could use the support from these great charities

I'm going for The Bomber 333miles 1st-12th June but if I'm on a roll 666miles might not be out of the question. The more you raise, the further I will ride. Picture requests to keep it interesting if you raise money

That's Hammersmith to Download and back TWICE!

About HMT 2020: The Eighth of Spades - Virtual Ride

Raise money for Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust, Childline, and Save the Children!

For the last eight years the Heavy Metal Truants have been doing an annual charity cycle ride from London to Download Festival set upon the hallowed heavy metal grounds of Castle Donington. Open to all, our charity ride has seen metal fans, bands, and industry types getting on their bikes and raising £681,500 in the process.

We were heartbroken to see Download Festival cancelling this year - a decision which we of course fully support. We weren’t happy to sit this year out though. Our chosen charities, all of which work hard to support children and young people, need our support now more than ever, so we’re calling on all metalheads from around the world to join us in the name of heavy metal.

As it’s the 40th anniversary of Motorhead’s Ace of Spades, what better with which to honour Lemmy than to call it…

HEAVY METAL TRUANTS 8: THE EIGHTH OF SPADES!

THE PLAN:

Between June 1st and in the run-up to June 12th, the weekend of Virtual Download Festival, we want you to get in the saddle and join us on a virtual ride. Anything with pedals which you can log on Strava is fine - actual bikes, smart trainers, or simple exercise bikes: if you can log the miles on Strava, you can join the ride. If you are going outside on a real bike though we ask that you do so safely and according to government guidelines!
