Drafted in at the eleventh hour to complete The Lounge Kittens trio this will be my second ride since 2017 with the absolute legends that are The Heavy Metal Truants.
I will be riding around my home here in France, where they have only just lifted the nationwide cycle ban and strict lockdown which has been in place for months. I've dusted off my trusty velo, scrubbed the rust off the chain and am about to throw myself into this 175 mile (281.6352 Km) ride with no recent training... the point is it's a challenge, right?
Given how hard I prepared for the ride in 2017, it's a somewhat frightening prospect; however, it is not one iota as frightening what the kids supported by these charities are facing...
Being a kid can be daunting and scary at the best of times, but these charities are there to support children and young people going through some very grown-up stuff – please check them out, it's such important work.
Sometimes the big things happen in life when we don't have the chance to prepare for them, so I'm just going to pull up my big-boy socks and ride for the kids and their families going through some of the most difficult challenges anyone can experience. If I go over my target while the ride is still on, I will ride extra KMs!
