I am running this year’s Rise 8k Undercliff Run as my way of saying ‘thank you’ to a charity that has helped me to rebuild my life. For me, this run also marks a celebration of survivorship, a chance to get back to doing something I really love – running.

I’ve run longer distances before, but the dual challenges of a new start and catching Covid-19 have somewhat affected my training this year. My aim is to complete the whole distance running and to raise money so Rise can help more women and children say ‘no more’ and live free of the scourge of domestic abuse.

It’s not about the time I take to complete the run and it doesn’t matter that this year’s race is virtual (I'll be running it weekend of October 17-18, in accordance with social distancing measures). It really is all about raising money for vital work and the joy of running…
