I ran the RISE 8K 2020 (virtually) on Sunday 18th October. I've been wanting to take part in this event for a couple of years now, and finally decided to sign up this year. Unfortunately the race had to go ahead virtually due to coronavirus but my mum and I completed our own 8K on Brighton seafront this weekend. 

I wasn't going to ask for sponsorship, and instead opted to donate the suggested fundraising target to the charity myself. I have done my fair share of fundraising over the last couple of years and I'm aware that I probably keep on relying on the same friends and family who kindly sponsor me for every run, swim or abseil! But this year has been incredibly tough for charities in terms of fundraising, and with many physical events no longer able to go ahead I really wanted to try and raise some money for RISE if I can. In addition, domestic abuse cases have increased by 20% globally (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-53014211), and I really wanted to support a charity local to me that helps people affected by domestic abuse. 

I also got a cheeky 5K PB on Sunday so all the more reason to sponsor me :P
