About Yatish Misra

Profile picture

This cause is very close to our heart. In summer last year our then expected baby girl became impatient and decided to come a bit early, really surprising considering the state of world. She was in NICU/HDU/SCBU for 125 days of which almost 3 months were in Portsmouth. We were helped by Family First a charity supported by Grace Crocker Foundation with logistics, financial and emotional support. Being a first time parent to a micropremmie baby it was super comforting to find people who we had never met support us unconditionally so that we can focus on the baby. It really made a big difference in our lives and accordingly the onus is now on us to support an excellent foundation like this. Running 264k and raising money plus more importantly finding time with a new born is going to be tricky but nothing like what our girl had to go thru and we hope will go someway reciprocating our thanks to massive support we got from Grace Crocker Foundation. I will be tracking my runs thru Strava and link is at end for anyone to keep tabs on my progress. Thanks if you made this far and look forward to your support!

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation was set up in January 2011, in memory of Grace Crocker, who grew her angel wings aged 11 weeks. Grace was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (A congenital heart disorder in which the left side of the heart, particularly the left ventricle, is underdeveloped. The first part of the aorta may also be abnormal. Affected babies usually develop severe heart failure within the first few days of life), and had open-heart surgery when she was just 5 days old. Her family lived in Jersey, and so they had to move to Southampton for three months whilst Grace recovered from her surgery, including her brother and sister as well as her mum and dad. She met lots of friends and family when she was allowed back home to Jersey, and in the month that she was home, she touched so many people’s lives. As a result of our own experience, we set up this charity with the support of friends and family, with the aim to help other families from Jersey who need to spend time in the UK whilst their child receives medical treatment in a hospital. It is worrying enough when your child is sick, without being faced with additional financial worries, and so we would love to help families in some way, by providing them with some financial assistance and emotional support too.

About Jersey to Southampton Hospital Challenge

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation supports families who have children requiring medical treatment in the UK.

To start our 10 year anniversary year we are challenging you to run, walk or jog the distance from Jersey Hospital to Southampton General Hospital - a total of 164 miles.

The challenge can be completed across February and can be tackled individually or in teams.

You can take on the challenge anywhere you want - inside, outside, alone or with friends and family (socially distanced).

We suggest using the Strava app to track your progress or any other fitness tracking app that you are comfortable using.

The event is free to enter but we ask that each entrant aims to raise a minimum of £50 for The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation. There will also be some fab prizes for our top fundraisers. On registering you will be given an individual online fundraising page, so please get sharing!
