About Simon Grieve

Profile picture

I got back into running a couple of years ago to help with general fitness. At 6'4" and 99kg I wouldn't say I'm a 'natural', however I do enjoy it and feel healthier as a result. I set myself the target of running my first ever formal race last year, but obviously the pandemic intervened. I've run 10k a few times in training and my objective is to get under 60 mins - if we get a 'flaming' June I'll have no chance! The Oxford Town & Gown 10k looks very well run and, importantly, is on the flat! It will also be good to raise some money for an excellent cause whilst having some fun. I will be very grateful to family, friends and colleagues who can make a small donation to Muscular Dystrophy UK. Cheers!

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:

Muscular Dystrophy UK

"Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for the 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. We bring together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions. Muscle-wasting conditions are very rare, affecting just over one in every 1,000 people. As a result, some health professionals may never come across anyone with a muscle-wasting condition and may not know much about them. But we do. Since 1959, we’ve been supporting families living with muscle-wasting conditions. We provide vital information, advice, resources and support for people with these conditions, their families and the professionals who work with them."

About Oxford Town and Gown 2021

Event Update

For all entries from 9am 21 June your running bib will be collection on the day only from the Registration marquee in University Parks, Oxford, OX1 3RF. Your wave will be Black. Please read our Race Guide for timings.

This year, the Oxford Town and Gown 10k is taking place on Sunday 27 June 2021 (postponed from its original date in May). We made this decision with the health and wellbeing of everyone in mind, in light of the current COVID-19 situation.

We’re working with event and safety specialists to deliver a COVID-secure event, for full information on this see our Race Guide

An unfortunate consequence of the event date change is that we are having to remove the Junior 3k. We are working on alternative dates for the Junior 3k and will provide a further update soon.

All entries for 2021 will be secured with our covid policy, for more information visit our FAQ section on www.townandgown10k.com/oxford

About Oxford Town and Gown

Oxford Town and Gown is the oldest run in the series. It started in 1982 by local runners as a fun run to raise funds for muscular dystrophy and still to this day all profits from the race go to Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK).

2021 will be the 40th race for the run which now attracts up to 6,000 runners every year – including serious athletes, the casual runner and fun runners. The unique route is the only closed-road City Centre 10k in Oxford with a glorious stretch along the River Cherwell and finish in the University Parks. In 2019, the run was awarded Best 10k in South England by the Running Awards.
