I first started running as the pandemic hit the UK. The #couchto5k app became my favoured trainer. I’d always hated running but with the gyms closed it seemed a sensible, and free, option.My first endeavour saw a 30 second effort, exploding lungs and burning muscles. I never ever thought I’d be able to run to the end of the road, never mind 5k. BUT with lots of effort and relentless determination I did it! I find it gives me a massive #mentalhealthandwellbeing boost as well as feeling the physical benefits.
When a friend suggested I take part in the #Cambridge Town and Gown 2022 10k my first thought was “I can’t run that far”… but maybe I can…
Setting personal goals is really important to me. If I can achieve this and raise some much needed money for a great charity even better.

We bring together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions. Muscle-wasting conditions are very rare, affecting just over one in every 1,000 people. As a result, some health professionals may never come across anyone with a muscle-wasting condition and may not know much about them. But we do. Since 1959, we’ve been supporting families living with muscle-wasting conditions. We provide vital information, advice, resources and support for people with these conditions, their families and the professionals who work with them."
Cambridge Town and Gown is our autumn run of the series and will take place on Sunday 16th October.
Our scenic 10k route takes you through the heart of Cambridge passing many landmarks, historic university college buildings and along the River Cam.
All of our 10k runs our licensed by Run Britain and we're proud to be the recipient of a bronze award for the Best 10k in East England by The Running Awards 2019 and 2020.
