I decided to run the Cambridge Town and Gown 10k as a personal challenge - I’ve never been a runner (and in fact have pretty much hated running since school) but I started to get into it during Covid and in March this year I joined an online running club. When I first started training I couldn’t run for more than a few minutes without feeling exhausted and needing to walk - so managing to run a whole 10k will be a major personal achievement (and I have been that dedicated that I kept the training up on our family holiday to Portugal - see very sweaty photo as evidence)! I’ve also given up the booze (I haven’t had a drink since 1 January this year) - so what with that and the running I’m probably having a mid life crisis... but whether that’s the case or not I’m very pleased to be supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK at the same time as achieving something personally significant.

We bring together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions. Muscle-wasting conditions are very rare, affecting just over one in every 1,000 people. As a result, some health professionals may never come across anyone with a muscle-wasting condition and may not know much about them. But we do. Since 1959, we’ve been supporting families living with muscle-wasting conditions. We provide vital information, advice, resources and support for people with these conditions, their families and the professionals who work with them."
Cambridge Town and Gown is our autumn run of the series and will take place on Sunday 16th October.
Our scenic 10k route takes you through the heart of Cambridge passing many landmarks, historic university college buildings and along the River Cam.
All of our 10k runs our licensed by Run Britain and we're proud to be the recipient of a bronze award for the Best 10k in East England by The Running Awards 2019 and 2020.
