On May 14th I will be taking part in BoxinBusiness' White Collar Boxing Event, which we will include a ten week training camp. This camp is probably the hardest challenge I've ever taken on and will be pushing me both physically and mentally, but I am so excited to take it on!
Part of doing this is to also raise money for charity, and I've chosen to split my donations raised between two local organisations close to my heart. Thrive is a charity who raises awareness around suicide prevention and mental health on the island. Room 2 Talk is a non-profit organisation who provide low cost open-ended counselling for those who need a safe, confidential space to talk. It provides this to thousands of people who don't fit the 'criteria' for getting support and can't afford to pay for private counselling sessions. Both these charities are raising awareness around mental health in Jersey and using the money they raise to better the services we have available to everyone on this island.
Helping to raise awareness and money to better the services in Mental health on Jersey, is something I feel so passionate about. Sadly so many people have been affected whether it is directly with our own battle with mental health or indirectly knowing someone close to us who has suffered. This experience for me isn't only about a physical challenge it is also to raise as much money and awareness as I can. No matter how small, I believe change can happen.
