This will be my 7th Truants ride and after our Covid trip to the highlands of Scotland in 2021 I'm glad we are returning to our normal modus operandi of going to the other side of the world and finding somewhere where it will be warm and sunny to ride.
Yes, we are off to Argentina (and Uruguay I hear). We're close to raising a total of £5m for our charities that do such fantastic work with severely ill and disadvantaged children - Nordoff Robbins, NSPCC Childline, Teenage Cancer Trust and Save the Children. I've met some of the people who have been helped by these charities and seen their work in action - it is truly inspiring to see the impact they have on vulnerable young lives.
Hopefully avoiding the torrential rain and gale-force winds of Scotland, we'll tackle our traditional foes of terrain, heat and humidity compounded by lack of fitness, lack of sleep and locally procured mountain bikes. 200 odd kms over 2.5 days - we are all mad.
My friends and colleagues have always been immensely generous on previous rides and I really hope you're able to donate something in honour of this trip to make my suffering worth it. We all pay our own way entirely so all your money goes to the charities. Please do give generously, if not to see me suffer then because the causes are excellent!.
