About Psycho-Social Support Item
Psycho-Social Support has chosen to raise funds for Jersey Side By Side and is taking part in Bailiff's Ukraine Appeal
War in Ukraine is having a huge psychological impact with people suffering from intense fear, constant stress, persistent worry, hopelessness and panic attacks. More than 7 million people have been displaced in Ukraine and over 5 million have sought safety in neighbouring countries. The majority of these people are women and children. The immediate mental health need for these people is the provision of psych-social support to address their psychological trauma.
JOA, in partnership with Caritas, is providing psycho-social care to women and children in eastern Slovakia and western Ukraine. Ukrainian refugees have been trained and employed as psycho-social counsellors operating out of refugee day centres. Every day they provide specialised counselling for both adults and children that have been affected by the conflict.
2 hours of psycho-social counselling costs just £13
Employing a Ukrainian refugee as a psycho-social counsellor for a day costs just £54
