Hello,
My name is Damien and I will be taking on this years island walk in memory of my dad who we lost two years ago to cancer.
The island walk is a 48 mile long journey along the coast of the Island of Jersey starting at the Weybridge and finishing 16 hours later back to where we started.
This is a physically demanding walk and has required several weeks/months of preparation to prepare us as best we can for the event.
The walk winds around the coast passing many famous landmarks such as Mont Orgeuil, Gronez and Corbiere lighthouse. The North coast is infamously difficult and is the section we have spend the most time on.
Each year the Island Walk trustees choose 3 main charities and an average about 6 more known as Potters who receive lesser amounts than the mains.
The distribution is for projects and the mains are normally 1 each of elderly/health, Children/sport and environment/animals.
Since inception over £2,4m has been raised with appropriately 23,000 walkers and over 100 local charities benefiting.
All the money raised is redistributed to the designated charities with the costs being funded by the sponsors, currently TMF Group.
All money will go to local charities in Jersey.
Thank you for the support!
Damien
