About Accuro Jersey Triathlon 2022

The Jersey Triathlon is the most Southerly triathlon of the British Isles and is one of the most exciting, challenging and picturesque courses in Britain. The event is centred on Jersey's waterfront in St Helier, providing seemless transitions from swim to bike and bike to run. The course hosted the Jersey 2015 Island Games triathlon event and the 2022 event will follow a near identical course.

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good causes:

Oscar Maclean Foundation, Dementia Jersey & Brightly

Oscar Maclean Foundation

Oscar Maclean (09.03.04-26.10.13) was a Proper Hero. He lived a short but action packed life, during which he managed to write a spy novel, acquire endless party invitations, numerous sports and various other achievement awards, a great bunch of friends, love of sport and all things fun, as well as demonstrate endless bravery and dignity beyond his years in the face of great adversity.

Oscar has shown an incredible fighting spirit against his deadly enemy- a Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma, a malignant brain tumour that eventually stole his young life away from him. But it will never succeed in stealing his wonderful memory away from any of those who knew him. For today and with every single day to come, we will try to change this world into a slightly better place by supporting worthy community causes aimed to help young Cancer patients in Jersey and their families, in Oscar's name.

A 2015 project that we helped to deliver is the funding of a children's Community Liaison Officer, who will be based at the Hospital. The Liaison Officer will be co-ordinating vital support for children with cancer and other chronic illness and their families - practical, financial and emotional. At present, some of these functions are fulfilled by different charities and departments, but the appointment of a single officer who will coordinate the entire support structure for a family will mean that parents will be able to focus on their child at the time when they need it most, instead of spending hours on the phone calling various charities, states departments or other service providers. Please help us by showing your support in memory of this gorgeous little boy.

Jersey Alzheimer's Association

JAA was formed in 2010 to support everyone in the Island affected by Dementia and therefore 2020 is our 10th Anniversary. Since 2012 we have experienced a dramatic 235% increase in demand for our services. Jersey now has over 1500 people diagnosed with some form of dementia and many more that we don't know about.

This year we have launched our Dementia Friends awareness sessions which seek to help people understand just a few key facts about dementia and to date are delighted to have welcomed over 350 people to the 45 minute sessions. Dementia can affect all ages and therefore a number of companies have seen the benefit of learning a little more in order to better help their customers and their staff, who may have the pressures of caring for family members or be having difficulties themselves.

Brightly

Brightly (formerly known as Brig-y-Don Children's Charity) is a small, independent Jersey charity who offers financial support to children and young people from birth to 25 years, who are being looked after in Government of Jersey care, leaving care, or foster care, as well as others who are suffering adversity and are in need.

Our support is intended to create positive experiences and opportunities for these children and young people with the aim of helping individuals move towards independence.

All money raised by Brightly either stays in Jersey for the benefit of island residents or can be applied in cases where local children and young people have to be cared for off island.
