About Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation Fun Run 2023

The Grace Crocker Foundation Family Support Fun Run

The Event
This is the second year we are running the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation Fun Run. This 5.6km Fun Run will take place on July 2nd at Les Quennevais Cycle Track, with a 10am start. This event was originally organised by Alan Falle, to help boost his fund and awareness raising aims for the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation as part of his 2022 in 2022 challenge, during which he ran 2022km in 2022, and we are pleased that this is now a yearly event.

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation
The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation provide financial and emotional support for Jersey families with children receiving medical care. To find out more about the Foundation and the support they offer, visit https://gracecrocker.org.je/.

Tickets
Participation is free, but when registering for the event you could opt to donate at the checkout. Alternatively, donations can be made in person on the day using QR codes or charity buckets held by students from Victoria College, where Alan teaches.

Logistics
At 9.45 there will be a warm up, led by Funktion Fitness, followed by an event briefing. The walk/jog/run will then start at 10am and will largely follow the Jersey Park Run circuit, but starting next to the hockey pitch to make the distance up to 5.6km, the average distance Alan has to run each day to complete his challenge.

Post-event
We hope to be able to provide cakes for purchase after the event as organised by Victoria College students and staff and hope that you'll stay to chat with other participants.

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation was set up in January 2011, in memory of Grace Crocker, who grew her angel wings aged 11 weeks. Grace was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (A congenital heart disorder in which the left side of the heart, particularly the left ventricle, is underdeveloped. The first part of the aorta may also be abnormal. Affected babies usually develop severe heart failure within the first few days of life), and had open-heart surgery when she was just 5 days old. Her family lived in Jersey, and so they had to move to Southampton for three months whilst Grace recovered from her surgery, including her brother and sister as well as her mum and dad. She met lots of friends and family when she was allowed back home to Jersey, and in the month that she was home, she touched so many people’s lives. As a result of our own experience, we set up this charity with the support of friends and family, with the aim to help other families from Jersey who need to spend time in the UK whilst their child receives medical treatment in a hospital. It is worrying enough when your child is sick, without being faced with additional financial worries, and so we would love to help families in some way, by providing them with some financial assistance and emotional support too.
