Hi everyone! As you may have heard, we (Amy & Jess) will be representing Price & Myers in PedElle this year. From June 20th-22nd we will be cycling 400 hilly kilometres from Siena to Rome, to help raise money for some amazing charities. You can read more about them below.
Amy
Cycling for me started out as a quick and cheap commute. After joining David Lockett’s team in September, I was warned under no uncertain terms that I would become a cycling addict. After 4 months, I had signed up for the Pedelle, transformed my bike and started my training. It’s going to be a fantastic challenge - the size of which is only just sinking in!
Jess
I have been cycling for around 2 and a half years, but this will be my biggest ride yet and I'm taking the training seriously. Spin classes have started in earnest and I have even taken up track cycling to fit in some extra winter training!
I know you are probably thinking "why would I want to sponsor Jess, she loves cycling, plus she is likely to eat her weight in pasta for 3 days in Tuscany, sounds like a holiday to me!"
The honest answer is that you're right, I am sure it's going to be an amazing experience. However, the important thing is that 100% of any donations will go straight to charity, because Price & Myers are kindly sponsoring the event entry fee. The charities that we are fundraising for really do some incredible work and donations are of course fundamental to this. We will also be working hard to organise fundraising events, waffle mornings, baking and anything else we can think of to help raise money.
Coram
Coram is the UK's oldest children's charity; their goal is to help create stable, loving homes for the UK's most vulnerable children.
To demonstrate the effect that previous PedElle donations have had on this charity, here are a few statistics. In 2016, as a direct result of PedElle donations, Coram were able to:
- Place 18 vulnerable children in new adoptive homes
- Provide post-adoption support for 64 families
- Find and prepare adoptive families for 175 more children currently living in care.
As a pair, our sponsorship goal will provide enough funds to place another child into an adoptive home. To me, this is reason enough to ask for your sponsorship; I know how fortunate I am to have had a stable family upbringing and I would be so incredibly happy to be able to help make this a reality for another child.
