Jersey Hospice Care is the island’s only hospice – providing specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting conditions.
Services include the Specialist Palliative Care Team – who support people at home, in hospital, and care homes, a 12 bed In Patient Unit providing a home away from home, educational programmes, physiotherapy, emotional, spiritual and faith support, and community bereavement services. Jersey Hospice Care is an independent charity, providing all its services without a charge to patients.
It costs £16,500 a day to run its services – funded mainly by the generosity of islanders. This comes in the form of fundraising, donations, and sales in our two charity shops, as well as through the outstanding work of the army of dedicated volunteers who give their time and skills to keep the hospice running.
Our care is about so much more than the specialist palliative treatment of a person’s physical symptoms. It is a total philosophy of care; offering spiritual and emotional support that extends to family members and carers. For each person we are privileged to care for, we only get one chance at the end of life to get it right, and that is why we strive every day to go that extra mile for our patients and their families, to make extraordinary care our ‘ordinary’. Helping each person we care for get the best out of every day and to make each day count.
Jersey Hospice Care provides specialist palliative care to all those with a life limiting illness. As a result, more than half of the patients we now care for do not have cancer.
Jersey Hospice Care was started by the community, for the community - and to this day, the care provided continues to be possible thanks to the community that supports Hospice so generously each year.
