Philips Footprints supports parents facing the loss of their baby or child.
We also aim is to reduce the rates of stillbirths, premature births and complications at birth and improve outcomes for Jersey babies.
Every year Philip's Footprints support up to 20 families who have tragically lost a baby or child in the Maternity Unit, Rayner Ward and Robin Ward, and in the wider community, through the provision of memory boxes. We offer peer support to families affected by the loss of a baby or child, at any gestation or age and no matter how long ago and also provide funding support to Jersey Hospice Bereavement Counselling Service.
Each year, the charity also invests in safer pregnancies by funding £10k of professional training and providing information on safer pregnancies for nearly 1,000 pregnant women, each year. They also purchase antenatal equipment for Jersey Maternity.
October is Baby Loss Awareness Month around the world and Philip's Footprints is fundraising to support bereaved parents who have lost a baby or child, in the Maternity Unit, Rayner or Robin Ward or, outside of the hospital environment (working Jersey Hospice Children and Young People's Service and Family Nursing & Home Care Paediatric Palliative Care Team).
Our main support is the provision of memory boxes, memory making items and keepsakes. We hope that at a desperately sad time these will give a little comfort to families. We also offer peer support and a Christmas candlelit remembrance service open to anyone affected by the loss of a baby or child, at any age or gestation, no matter how long ago.
