Jeremiah's Journey

Since 1996, we have been providing support to children, young people and their parents/carers when the future feels uncertain or when hope feels lost. Our work covers Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

Supporting children who are facing the death of a parent or have experienced the death of someone significant, can be hugely beneficial. Children who feel more able to cope with their grief, often report that they have improved concentration at school and less difficulties in expressing and dealing with their emotions.

SSAFA Plymouth

SSAFA Plymouth support covers serving and veterans regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service. We know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, we help to enable the Forces family to thrive.

At SSAFA we believe you never have to battle alone! We are here to help you.

SSAFA Plymouth helps the armed forces community in a number of ways, though our focus is on providing direct support to individuals in need of physical or emotional care. Our volunteer team of caseworkers and fundraisers cover Plymouth and some of the surrounding areas. Your donations will allow us to continue providing this vital local support for so many.

Luna's Fund

Our baby loss charity is determined to positively aid the mental and physical health and wellbeing of bereaved parents upon the loss of their baby.

We aim to support them by offering a choice of tangible services that they can access immediately upon leaving the hospital. We hope our services will positively impact their grieving process and give them hope for their future; their ‘new normal.’

We have constructed these ideas based on our own experience of what we would have loved to have been offered at the time... a lifeline after loss.

Pensinsula Medical Foundation

We are a UK Registered Charity (No. 1060423) which aims to improve health in Plymouth and the South West Peninsula of England.  We do this by supporting medical research and health-related education in conjunction with University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust and Plymouth University, mainly the Peninsula Medical School.  During the last year, we have raised money for several projects, including Brain Tumour research and Parkinson’s Disease research.  There is a lot more we wish to do, but we are dependent on the generosity of local supporters to help us raise the funds.  Anything you can do will help – ultimately patients treated across the South West will benefit.  It can be as simple as making a regular donation, fundraising, or including the PMF in your will – it might save your life or a someone close to you.

Brain Tumour Research

Our Vision
To find a cure for all types of brain tumours
Our Mission
To increase the UK investment in brain tumour research

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this!
We are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Argyle Community Trust

In 2024, Argyle Community Trust are hoping to launch an innovative Cancer rehabilitation and exercise programme for men and women living with Cancer, set to launch from Brickfields Community Hub toward the end of the year. We're looking for local fundraisers to help us make this happen!

Argyle Community Trust is the leading sport-for-change charity in Devon and Cornwall. We are the official charity of Plymouth Argyle Football Club and utilise the prestige of football, the reach of the club and the power of the badge to inspire, engage and help people of all ages, genders, race, and socio-economic status. Our work focuses, primarily, on removing barriers to participation and offering opportunities that are accessible to all. We maintain a particular focus on disadvantaged and isolated communities, underrepresented groups and at-risk children, young people and adults and we use the power of the brand as a starting point for engagement with these communities.

This innovative new Cancer Rehabilitation project will enable us to use physical activity to help patients during their recovery in a physical, social, and emotional context. The programme will provide participants with the benefits of physical exercise, whilst also creating a consistent social environment where members can share stories and increase their confidence and self-esteem during a difficult period in their lives. Participants will be welcomed on to our project at any time throughout their cancer journey; from diagnosis, during treatment or recovery and through to remission, meaning they can benefit from the programme before, throughout and after treatment. The project is set up to help people make positive connections at a time where they are feeling lonely/scared.

Plymouth Hospitals General Charity and Other Related Charities

Our Mission
to support the work of the University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust in providing the best possible healthcare to every patient
to support the work of NHS staff and help raise standards above the level that NHS funding alone allows

What you help us do
We listen to the brilliant staff at University Hospitals Plymouth. We ask them to put forward ideas that can help improve the care or the environment of the people who need the hospitals.
We do this by offering grants for innovative ideas.
We also have staff as Advisors, allowing them to support change in the area they work in.
Or there might be a hospital ward or area that needs extra care to make it more friendly or calming for people who need it.
We help support and encourage gardens within the grounds for both staff and patients to use.
All this above what NHS funding provides for the hospital.

You help us make a difference.

Dash of Silver

“Dash of Silver was formed with the help of family and friends to support others who find themselves being affected by male cancer
Cancer is an enigma and we all are touched by it at some point in our lives, whether it’s through personal battles, or through friends, family or work colleagues.
Awareness is essential whilst we strive to improve research and cure.  Battling cancer has changed my life, and I am eternally grateful to every person who has contributed to my recovery and made me the person I am. No-one should have to go through this ordeal alone and the team and I hope that we can also ensure that this charity is a support network for anyone that needs it.”
The team are working hard to create a male cancer support group in Plymouth, and hopefully in the future to spread this support further afield.
Please join us on our journey and together we can say ” Pants to Cancer ”

The Shark Trust

Sharks and rays are some of the ocean's most amazing animals. Present in our seas for 400 million years, they are vital and valuable but also vulnerable.  Around a 1/3 of all shark, skate, ray and chimaera species are considered "threatened" with extinction, largely due to the impact of unsustainable fisheries.  The Shark Trust works globally to ensure endangered species of sharks are suitably protected, while also pushing for science-based fisheries management for all species to ensure long term sustainability.
