Hi everyone! Welcome to our fundraising page for Cyrenians, a Scottish based charity that supports people with lived experience of homelessness. As you know, we're going on a hitchhike to Paris on the 1st of November to raise as much money as we can for this amazing charity! Our names are Hannah Feben Smith and Claire Askes. We're both second years at the University of Edinburgh, studying Social Anthropology as part of our degrees. Our team is called Hitch de France, based on the famous cycling race, the Tour de France! We came across a poster on this hitchhiking and we immediately wanted to get involved. Especially as it's such a great cause. We would really appreciate any donations, donate as much as you want. The first area is family and people, where Cyrenians work with families to resolve issues and repair relationships. Secondly, Cyrenians offers housing advice and provides supported housing for young people. Thirdly, the charity provides supportive employability services that help jobseekers to get work across Scotland. Finally, Cyrenians have a range of services and social enterprises that teach people about the benefits of cooking, growing and eating good food together in local communities, for example, in the NHS Community Gardens. For their values driven approach, Cyrenians was awarded the LGBT Charter Foundations award.
