Hi ! We are a team of two (Alex and Hannah) and we are hitchhiking to Paris from Edinburgh on 1st - 3rd November to raise money for Save the Children.
The reason we chose Save the Children is because of the recent appeal they are doing in aid of the current refugee crisis. Immediately, when we thought about the Calais crossing we would have to do to get to Paris, we thought of the journey that thousands of refugees are forced to undertake each year.
If there is anything you can contribute to our fundraising target of £500, we would be over the moon. We are currently facing the worst refugee crisis since WWII and it is a matter that needs to be dealt with urgently. Save the Children currently work with thousands of families and individuals from Syria, South Sudan, Burundi and other countries marred by violence and persecution. Any donation will be greatly appreciated!
We are so excited to be challenging ourselves by trying to hitchhike to Paris and help the Save the Children campaign. It’s going to be a brilliant lifetime experience and hopefully our fundraising will be able to make a difference. ESCA is led by a student fundraising group who go by the name Edinburgh RAG. They put on numerous events throughout the year including a hitch hike race to Paris and the Meadows Marathon raising money for a wide range of charities.
Race2Paris is a hitchhike race where teams race from Bristo Square, Edinburgh to Paris in the quickest time possible. It allows you to raise money for any charity you choose (with a UK charity no.) whilst having the time of your life!
