About Shelagh Marett

I am supporting these two charities by doing something that I love - swimming in the sea on our beautiful Island of Jersey. I don't swim year round, but certainly in the sunnier months there is nothing nice than a swim in the sea.

Fundraising Information

This fundraising page benefits the following good causes:

Jersey Hospice Care

Jersey Hospice Care is the island’s only hospice – providing specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting conditions. Services include the Specialist Palliative Care Team – who support people at home, in hospital, and in care homes, an In Patient Unit providing a home away from home, educational programmes, complementary therapy, emotional, spiritual and faith support, and community bereavement services. Jersey Hospice Care is an independent charity, providing all its services without a charge to patients. It costs £18,000 a day to run – funded mainly by the generosity of islanders. This comes in the form of donations, fundraising, and sales in our charity shops, as well as through the outstanding work of the dedicated volunteers who give their time and skills to keep Hospice running.

National Trust for Jersey

Celebrating its 90th Anniversary in 2026, the National Trust for Jersey, an independent, self-funding charity, is a proud and steadfast guardian of Jersey's wild and unique spaces.

With its dramatic coastline, rich marine environment, distinctive vernacular architecture, and hedge lined country lanes, Jersey retains a strong sense of place, identity and above all, beauty. But these qualities are always at risk, now more than ever.

Threats from unsuitable development, creeping urbanisation, unsustainable farming practices and short term economic policies have resulted in a serious decline in wildlife and the poorer health of our environment. Tranquillity is becoming increasingly precious.

The National Trust seeks to champion and protect the distinctive elements that make Jersey 'Jersey', so that they remain at the very heart of Island life. We do this through an incredible programme of cultural events, practising sustainable management led by expert conservationists and by promoting and increasing awareness of the value of our marine spaces, countryside and historic environment to all Islanders.

From coastline and cliff paths, woodlands and wetlands, meadows and marshes, as well as managing nearly 40 historical properties, the National Trust will never give up on our irreplaceable nature and rich heritage.

By supporting our work, you ensure that Jersey is preserved and protected not just for today, but for generations to come.

About 30 Bays in 30 Days 2025

You can now sign up for our exciting summer challenge where we encourage you to explore and enjoy 30 different bays between 01 July through to 31 August.

We want you to swim, paddleboard, kayak, surf – or anything else you can think of! The challenge is open to people of all ages who want to get outdoors and take advantage of our stunning beaches, while raising money for two local charities – Jersey Hospice Care and the National Trust for Jersey.

We encourage all those registered to start the challenge on 1 July and complete a minimum of 30 strokes, 30 times in bays local to them. Participants can pick their favourite bays or if they want an extra challenge, can attempt all 30 during the month of July!

We will be holding an opening swim on Sunday 29 June at 9:00 and a closing swim on Friday 29 August at 17:30, both will be held at Greve De Lecq.

The first 100 people to sign up will also receive a special golden 30 Bays swim hat. Swim hats can be collected from Jersey Hospice Care, Mont Cochon and The National Trust in St Mary from Tuesday 17th June.

T-shirts can also be purchased from The National Trust in St Mary and during the opening and closing swims.

Our event is kindly sponsored by Livingroom, The Channel Islands estate agent.
