It was only when I started working at the National Trust for Jersey, that I was able to see how much this charity takes on. It's an incredible task - continuous and wonderful, but unyielding. At the NTJ, we are guardians of much of Jersey's environment and habitats - from woods to wetlands, coast to cliff paths, as well as iconic historical properties such as Le Don Hilton (the famous White House in St Ouen), Le Moulin de Quétivel (Jersey's only remaining working watermill), and 16 New Street, our stunning Georgian House museum.
The care and dedication of this team is extraordinary and I've never seen anything like it. But keeping Jersey looking beautiful, and preserving our culture and heritage is challenging and as a self-funded charity we need islanders to engage and support us - either by being a public or corporate member of the National Trust, fundraising, donating where they can and just engaging with our work and events.
Everything given goes towards our cause and also shared with our partners in this event, Jersey Hospice, who are also close to my heart as they looked after my Dad so well in his final days.
